Home-stays in mountain trails

As you go higher to the norther eastern peripheries of India, the comforts offered by mountain trails begin to decrease in direct proportion to the ascent. The motels or not clean, the bed sheets are stained, hot water is in short supply and to cap it all there are bed bugs. What is the alternative?

Look for homestays. Trails around Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Ladakh, Spiti  are dotted with Homestays welcoming worn out trekkers with warm meals and a bed to snooze in!
Have a look at this link. Its a very informative article on this nascent trend.
