Look Before You Take a Flight or Hotel

Next time you want to book a hotel or take a flight try this- the reverse auctioning portals. The portal allows you to bid online for a flight or a hotel. If you win the bid, you can take away the discounts that come with it. The upside is that discounts can be as much as 60 percent. One of such sites is atyourprice . How does it work. Its simple.
  1. Punch in your travel details and state your best price.
  2. You get an instant response.
  3. Make the payment through credit card and the e ticket would be sent by mail.
How do you bid- some tips.

Make an intelligent bid. Do not state a ridiculously low price.
Bid for the best hotels. Progressively come down, if you do not get the more quality hotels.
You need to do some home work before you start bidding. You would need to know which hotels give discounts during weekdays and week ends. A thumb rule- business hotels do not give discounts on week days, they do for week ends. The reverse holds true for hotels which cater to holiday crowd.

The downside is once the payment has been made no change in the itinerary or refund is possible.

Other such sites are  Bid2Travel.com and Travelsurf.com. There are more sites which do not disclose the name of the hotel and you you have to make a 'blind bid' which for obvious reasons is not quite popular. so go ahead and give it a try!

Which airline would you take? Which one can take you non stop- the duration of the journey- arrival and departure time-the price of the tickets in the ascending order? How can I know all these things? And then which accommodation to choose- hotels, apartments, rooms, hostels ?. What are the tariffs? Have a look at hipmunk.com

OK guys now that you have booked your flight tickets how can you get a good seat in the aircraft?  Which seat is good or booked or a standard seat, a poor seat etc. Seatguru.com helps you get the best seat available. All you need is to key in name of the airline and the flight number- and you can travel in comfort.
