Neil island is a tiny island 37 kilometers south of the Andaman islands. It is one of the hot tourist destinations. It is connected by a speed boat from Port Blair.
It is popular for its shady trees and beautiful sunrise and sunsets.
Its long deserted sandy beaches are a far cry from the beaches at Havelock. The widest part of the island is 5 kms. One can walk the island in 2 hours!
Unlike most islands in the Andamans, Neil has a flat terrain. It is sparsely populated. It s a village. there are no ATMs, no internet or banks. Only BSNL company has erected a mobile tower there.
Ideal season to visit is from October to April. Occupancy is high during this period. A better time would be from May to September. The rains do not interfere with you plans since they are intermittent and the water sinks fast into the sands.
