Its good to have your camera and better still if you know to extract maximum benefit from it. A few tips.
1. Look for contrasts- like a white against a back drop of greenery will picture alive.
2. Don't be in a hurry to that picture. Think! Try a different angle. Also try holding the camera sideways. At times it brings in more details and gives a good perspective.
3. Give 'depth' to your picture.If there is a good background landscape, focus on it even though the foreground details, say of the flowers, may appear out of focus. The variation will give depth to your picture.
4. Resist the temptation of jammin to many details into your composition. Too many can be distracting and too few can be banal.
5. The old rule- keep the sun behind you,' holds for good compositions, but infringement can also give you stunning results! The setting sun in the background can get you excellent silhouettes.
6. Wait for the sun to move- especially during sunsets. A wait of 10 minutes during sunset can get you dramatic results.
7.Use your zoom especially when you are taking a portrait. The person's expression will enhance the quality of your picture.
8. Keep your lens clean.Filters not only help you to control the light to get you the perfect shot, but also protects your lens.
9. Tripods are useful to have to keep the cameras rock steady while shooting. If you don't have one, then hold your breath when you click.
